The aim of the study was to present a case study of a 56-year-old woman with hyperoxaluria induced by calcium-free diet that resulted in kidney stone recurrence.
A 24-hour urine collection and serum tests for kidney stone risk factors identification were performed. The monitoring of urine risk factors was done by untimed urine samples and 24-hour urine collections. Polarized light microscopy was performed for kidney stone analysis.
The results of urine collection showed hyperoxaluria of 0.551mmoL per 24hours. After adding calcium-containing products to the diet the oxaluria decreased to reference range value of 0.352mmoL/24hours and all untimed oxalate to creatinine ratios returned to reference ranges. Polarized light microscopy revealed 100% calcium oxalate kidney stone composition (It was 50% Weddellite and 50% Whewellite).
The case study shows the importance of calcium intake in the prevention of calcium oxalate kidney stone recurrence. Particularly, unsuitable diet without calcium can induce kidney stone recurrence. Knowledge of diet habits is important for interpretation of kidney stone risk factors and their inhibitors excreted in urine.

To evaluate a mHealth intervention to increase medication adherence among Iranian coronary heart disease patients.
Quantitative-dominant mixed-methods study.
Iranian coronary heart disease patients’ responses and most recent clinical documents as well as responses from Iranian cardiac nurses who participated in this study.
The study was conducted between September 2015-April 2016 drawing on the Medical Research Council’s Framework. Phase one comprised of a patients’ survey and focus groups with cardiac nurses. The automated short message service reminder was piloted in phase two. We recruited 78 patients and randomized to receive either 12-week daily reminders or usual care. The primary outcome was the effect on medication adherence; secondary outcomes were self-efficacy, ejection fraction, functional capacity, readmission rate and quality of life.
Feasibility was evidenced by high ownership of mobile phones and high interest in receiving reminders. Participants in the intervention group showed significantly higher medication adherence compared with the control group.
The mHealth intervention was well accepted and feasible with early evidence of effectiveness that needs to be confirmed in a fully powered future randomized clinical trial.

Although it is difficult to eliminate stress in professionals’ daily lives, providing social support can lower psychological distress symptoms. This study aims to investigate the relationship between occupational stress and social support, and the effects of social support on psychological distress symptoms of healthcare professionals. A cross-sectional descriptive design was utilized. Self-administered questionnaires were completed by a convenience sample of 211 participants (physicians, nurses, and pharmacists) from a Jordanian hospital. Ephrin receptor inhibitor Bivariate analyses were used to examine the relationships between the study variables. Multiple regression analyses were used to determine if occupational stress, demographic characteristics, and social support predict depression, anxiety, and stress. Results showed that healthcare professionals with more social support showed less depression than those with a lower score of social support. Females had higher scores of depression and anxiety than males. Pharmacists had significantly higher occupational stress than both nurses and physicians. Occupational stress negatively influences healthcare professionals’ mental health. To improve the productivity and psychological wellbeing of healthcare professionals, occupational stress should be diminished by implementing effective management approaches to facilitate social support for healthcare professionals.
In the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, acute glucose starvation induces rapid endocytosis followed by vacuolar degradation of many plasma membrane proteins. This process is essential for cell viability, but the regulatory mechanisms that control it remain poorly understood. Under normal growth conditions, a major regulatory decision for endocytic cargo occurs at the trans-Golgi network (TGN) where proteins can recycle back to the plasma membrane or can be recognized by TGN-localised clathrin adaptors that direct them towards the vacuole. However, glucose starvation reduces recycling and alters the localization and post-translational modification of TGN-localised clathrin adaptors. This raises the possibility that during glucose starvation endocytosed proteins are routed to the vacuole by a novel mechanism that bypasses the TGN or does not require TGN-localised clathrin adaptors.
