These results showed that the micro-nano topography constructed through SLA and alkaline thermal treatment improved the hydrophilicity and promoted the cell proliferation. Moreover, it promoted RAW264.7 cells to polarize as M2 phenotype, thereby leading to the anti-inflammatory effect of local microenvironments. In pediatric liver allografts, CLI has been associated with advanced fibrosis and chronic rejection (CR). We sought to better characterize the clinicopathologic features of CLI in the setting of T cell-mediated rejection (TCMR) and its association with complement component 4d (C4d) deposition. A total of 206 posttransplant pediatric patients (491 allograft liver biopsies) were available from 2000 to 2018, of which 63 patients (102 biopsies) showed evidence of TCMR and were included in the study. Of the patients, 35 (55.6%) had CLI on their initial episode of TCMR; those patients with CLI were significantly associated with the type of immunosuppression treatment (P = 0.03), severity of TCMR (P less then 0.001), higher gamma-glutamyltransferase (P = 0.01), and advanced fibrosis (P = 0.03). There was a trend to shorter time interval from transplantation to presentation of CLI compared with those without CLI (P = 0.06). No difference was observed in graft or overall survival in the patients with CLI. In 20 patients with CLI, additional biopsies were available; in 45% of these patients, CLI was a persistent/recurrent finding. C4d deposition was noted in 12% of all biopsies (6 patients) with CLI. No significant correlation was noted in C4d deposition and CLI, CR, or graft/overall survival. In conclusion, CLI, although not significantly associated with worse graft survival, was significantly associated with severe TCMR and degree of fibrosis, which highlights the importance of active clinical management and follow-up for these patients.
This paper outlines how oral diseases such as periodontitis and periapical periodontitis may be linked to cardiovascular disease, atrial fibrillation and cardiac arrhythmia. We undertake a systematic review of the literature focused on acute dental infection and types of cardiac arrhythmia and also describe an illustrative case where an acute dental infection diagnosed as periapical periodontitis was associated with the occurrence of atrial fibrillation.
An electronic search was undertaken using MEDLINE and SCOPUS from 01 Jan 1970 to 30 June 2020. We also undertook manual searches using forward and backward citation chasing. Inclusion criteria were any primary research studies investigating any acute dental infection, with outcomes of cardiac arrhythmia or atrial fibrillation.
Over the last fifty years, only two low-quality studies have been investigated in this area. Our illustrative case involved a 58year-old who was diagnosed with an acute dental infection from an upper canine tooth who then develope dental infection, then this will have implications for healthcare staff since they can integrate professional advice relating to oral health with cardiovascular disease and atrial fibrillation. Screening programmes situated in dental settings can facilitate early intervention and prevention producing benefits for patients and savings to the health system.Polyyne polyrotaxanes, encapsulated cyclocarbon catenanes and other fascinating mechanically interlocked carbon-rich architectures should become accessible if masked alkyne equivalents (MAEs) can be developed that are large enough to prevent unthreading of a macrocycle, and that can be cleanly unmasked under mild conditions. Herein, we report the synthesis of a new bulky MAE based on t-butylbicyclo[4.3.1]decatriene. This MAE was used to synthesize a polyyne [2]rotaxane and a masked-polyyne [3]rotaxane by Cadiot-Chodkiewicz coupling. Glaser cyclo-oligomerization of the [2]rotaxane gave masked cyclocarbon catenanes. The unmasking behavior of the catenanes and rotaxanes was tested by photolysis at a range of UV wavelengths. Photochemical unmasking did not proceed cleanly enough to prepare extended encapsulated polyyne polyrotaxanes. We highlight the scope and challenges involved with this approach to interlocked carbon-rich architectures.WHAT IS KNOWN ON THE SUBJECT? Family-focused practice is an approach which has the potential to support mothers with mental illnesses and reduce the risk of familial transmission of mental illness to children. There is a need for the development of rigorously tested interventions which seek to include the whole family. ABSTRACT Introduction The evidence on effectiveness of family-focused home visiting for maternal mental illness has yet to be comprehensively synthesized. Aim The aim of this study was to assess current home visiting treatments and interventions for mothers with mental illness and their families. Method The primary and secondary outcomes of interest were depression and maternal stress, respectively, both were included in meta-analyses. We identified 13 (n = 5,540 participants) studies which met inclusion criteria. Eight studies were included in meta-analyses; five studies were reported narratively. Results Findings from the meta-analysis suggest that home visiting interventions are not effective in reducing depression (SMD -0.13, 95% CI -0.33 to 0.07, p = .21) and maternal stress (MD 0.59, 95% CI -5.19 to 6.38, p = .84). Discussion and Implications for practice Findings suggest that current interventions are not effective in reducing depression or stress among mothers.
