15 [12-18], respectively, p = 0.001), and poorer prognosis (Five Factor Score [FFS] ≥ 1 100% vs. 38.3%, respectively, p = 0.001). In the cardiac involvement group, 43.5% of patients were asymptomatic, but cardiac abnormalities could be detected by cardiac examinations. With appropriate treatment, the overall outcomes of EGPA patients with cardiac involvement in our cohort were good, with only 3 (13.0%) patients dying in the acute phase and no patients dying during follow-up. Conclusions Cardiac involvement in EGPA was associated with a younger age at onset, higher eosinophil count, higher disease activity, and a poorer prognosis. Comprehensive cardiac examinations and appropriate treatment are essential to improve the prognosis of those with cardiac involvement.Aim To estimate whether implantable collamer lens (V4c ICL) implantation increases the risk of retinal detachment in high myopia comparing with myopes with Rigid Gas-Permeable (RGP) correction. Methods This prospective study was comprised of an ICL group (704 eyes) and an RGP group (628 eyes). Epigenetic inhibitor Patients were enrolled according to the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria, then divided into the ICL group and RGP group. Patients in the ICL and RGP groups received V4c ICL implantation and RGP fitting respectively. Retinal details, spherical equivalent refraction (SE), uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), corrected distance vision acutivity (CDVA), axis length (AL), anterior chamber depth (ACD) and other relevant parameters were recorded at different time points. Rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) morbidity and incidence, RRD morphology and relevant parameters were analyzed. Results All enrolled patients were followed for 3-6 years. Patients characteristics before the refractive procedure did not show a statistical difference. At the end of the follow up, all the RD cases were RRD. The RRD morbidity of the ICL group and RGP group was 1.99% (14 eyes) and 0.96% (6 eyes) respectively, which did not show statistical difference (P = 0.12). During the first year after refractive procedure, the RRD incidence of the ICL group was 0.85% (6/704), while this number of the RGP group was 0.16% (1/628). It did not show statistical difference (P = 0.08). Conclusion Compared with RGP fitting, V4c ICL implantation for high myopia correction does not add RRD risk in the long term. V4c ICL implantation is a safe method for high myopia correction.Recent evidence has demonstrated that mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) can release a large number of functionally specific microRNA (miRNA) microvesicles that play a role in promoting osteogenic differentiation, but the specific mechanism is not yet clear. Under such context, this study aims to elucidate the mechanism of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes (BMSC-Exo) promoting fracture healing in mice. We isolated and identified the BMSC-Exo. Bioinformatics analysis predicted high expression of miRNA in exosomes and verified the transfer of miR-25 in exosomes by immunofluorescence. Targeting relationship between miR-25 and Smad ubiquitination regulatory factor-1 (SMURF1) was predicted and verified by dual-luciferase reporter gene assay. Immunoprecipitation and protein stability assays were used to detect Runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2) ubiquitination and the effect of SMURF1 on Runx2 ubiquitination, respectively. The effect of miR-25 in BMSC-Exo on fracture healing in mice was assessed using X-ray imaging. alkaline phosphatase, alizarin red staining, EdU, CCK-8, and Transwell were used to evaluate the effects of exosomes transferred miR-25 on osteogenic differentiation, proliferation, and migration of osteoblasts. Bioinformatics analysis predicted that miR-25 expression in exosomes increased significantly. Moreover, the targeted regulation of SMURF1 by miR-25 was verified. SMURF1 inhibited Runx2 protein expression by promoting ubiquitination degradation of Runx2. Notably, miR-25 secreted by BMSC-Exo can accelerate osteogenic differentiation, proliferation, and migration of osteoblasts through SMURF1/Runx2 axis. Our results demonstrate that miR-25 in BMSC-Exo regulates the ubiquitination degradation of Runx2 by SMURF1 to promote fracture healing in mice.Introduction A Tarlov cyst (TC) is a perineural cyst filled with cerebrospinal fluid that originates from the dorsal ganglion or the spinal posterior nerve root. TCs are usually asymptomatic and incidentally found in the sacral region. Endopelvic extension of TCs is uncommon and can be misdiagnosed as an adnexal mass on gynecological ultrasound imaging. Methods We performed a search for all clinical studies of TCs that mimicked adnexal masses that had been published through October 12, 2020. We placed no restrictions on language or year of publication in our search, and we performed searches with the following keywords perineural cyst, Tarlov cyst, sclerotherapy, management, and prognosis. We included all misdiagnosed cases or cases considered as adnexal masses on pelvic sonography. Results We identified 21 cases of TCs mimicking adnexal masses and conducted a comprehensive analysis of these 21 cases to assess the epidemiology, symptoms, initial diagnoses, provisional ultrasound diagnoses, confirmative modaliSince TCs can masquerade as pelvic masses, they should be considered if the mass appears tubular/cystic or multilocular/multiseptate, does not move with respiration, and originates from the sacrum in sonography with or without neurologic symptoms. Accurate diagnosis can prevent medical mismanagement and reduce patient discomfort. The Spanish government declared the lockdown on March 14th, 2020 to tackle the fast-spreading of COVID-19. As a consequence, the Balearic Islands remained almost fully isolated due to the closing of airports and ports, these isolation measures and the home-based confinement have led to a low prevalence of COVID-19 in this region. We propose a compartmental model for the spread of COVID-19 including five compartments (Susceptible, Exposed, Presymptomatic Infective, Diseased, and Recovered), and the mobility between municipalities. The model parameters are calibrated with the temporal series of confirmed cases provided by the Spanish Ministry of Health. After calibration, the proposed model captures the trend of the official confirmed cases before and after the lockdown. We show that the estimated number of cases depends strongly on the initial dates of the local outbreak onset and the number of imported cases before the lockdown. Our estimations indicate that the population has not reached the level of herd immunization necessary to prevent future outbreaks.
