Overweight and obesity are emerging public health problems in Ethiopia. However, primary study findings on the prevalence of overweight and obesity in Ethiopia are inconsistent. Therefore, this study aimed to estimate the pooled prevalence of overweight and obesity among adults in Ethiopia.
Studies that looked at overweight and obesity among adults were searched from four international databases. Vorinostat concentration The search involved articles published from 1 January 2010 to 10 March 2020. The Cochran’s Q χ
and the I
test statistics were used to check heterogeneity among the studies. The funnel plot and Egger’s regression tests were also used to assess the presence of publication bias. Subgroup analysis was performed by residence, study setting, sample size and year of study. Sensitivity analysis was also done to assess the effect of a single study on the pooled estimates. Data analysis was done using STATA V.14 software program.
A total of 16 studies with 19 527 study participants were included in this systematic rewareness creation campaigns and situation-based and context-specific prevention strategies.
Minority populations in the USA are disproportionately affected by cardiovascular conditions. Reduced responsiveness to clopidogrel among carriers of
variants has been reported in patients with either coronary artery disease (CAD) or acute coronary syndrome (ACS) after the percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Previous studies have evaluated
genotyping-guided antiplatelet therapy in selected populations; however, this has yet to be tested among Hispanics. Given the paucity of clinical research on
and antiplatelet clinical outcomes in Hispanics, our study will test the safety and efficacy of a genetic-driven treatment algorithm to guide dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) in Caribbean Hispanics.
This is a multicentre, prospective, non-randomised clinical trial that proposes an assessment of pharmacogenomic-guided DAPT in post-PCI Caribbean Hispanic patients with ACS or CAD. We will recruit 250 patients to be compared with a matched non-concurrent cohort of 250 clopidogrel-treated patients (standain a peer-reviewed journal and controlled access to experimental data will be available.

This paper describes the evaluation design of the ‘High schools High on life’ intervention; a school-based intervention to reduce excessive drinking among high school students in Denmark. The intervention includes a school environmental component to limit access to alcohol at school, a school-educational component to change social norms around alcohol among first year students and a parental component addressing parents’ knowledge and attitudes towards alcohol.
The study will employ a cluster randomised controlled study design and will include a random sample of 16 high schools randomly allocated 11 to either intervention or control group. Target group first year high school students. Timeline baseline survey January to March 2019, collected as part of the Danish National Youth Study 2019. Delivery of intervention April 2019 to March 2020. Follow-up survey April to May 2020.
30% reduction in mean number of binge-drinking episodes (five or more alcoholic drinks on one occasion) within the last 30 days.
proportion of students who drink alcohol, mean weekly alcohol consumption, alcohol intake at last school party, alcohol intake at the school during last school party, proportion of students who agree to be able to have fun at a party without drinking and the proportion of students who think alcohol plays a too dominant part at the school. Implementation will be monitored through process evaluation.
The Scientific Ethics Committees for the Capital Region of Denmark has declared that the trial is not subject to notification (jnr. 19021957). The study is registered at the Research an Innovation Office at University of Southern Denmark (ref 10.314) allowing collection of personal data. Results will be published in peer-reviewed journals.

Psychological distress has been known as a major health problem among farmers across the world. In Vietnam, approximately 50% of farmers have lived in rural and mountainous areas. Yet, little has been known about how psychological distress impacts mountainous farmers’ health.
This study aimed to examine the prevalence and risk factors related to psychological distress among mountainous farmers in Vietnam.
A cross-sectional study was performed from August to September 2018 in Moc Chau district, Vietnam. A structured questionnaire and face-to-face interviews were used for data collection.
A random sample of 197 farmers aged at least 18 years, spoke Vietnamese, was not suffering from severe diseases and residing in Moc Chau at the time of the survey were recruited.
The Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K6) was employed to measure psychological distress. The tobit and logistic regressions were applied to indicate associated factors.
The prevalence of psychological distress was 38.2% (95% CI 31.3% rs. Providing routine psychological and physical health screening, developing CHWs to provide clinical support and raising health awareness are critical implications for reducing psychological distress in this population.
Colorectal cancer (CRC) ranked second in terms of cancer mortality worldwide. It is associated with a substantial global disease burden. We aimed to examine whether the theory of planned behaviour (TPB) could predict the uptake of faecal immunochemical test to inform novel strategies for enhancing CRC screening participation in population-based programmes.
Cross-sectional study.
A Hong Kong-based and territory-wide telephone survey was conducted during the study period from October 2017 to November 2018.
4800 asymptomatic individuals aged 61-70 years who can communicate in Cantonese were recruited during the survey period. Those who had a history of CRC, chronic bowel inflammation, two or more first-degree relatives with CRC, and received colonoscopy in the past 10 years or faecal occult blood test in the past 5 years were excluded.
The association between CRC screening uptake and the factors pertinent to TPB was analysed by univariable and multivariable regression models and the mediating effect of intention.
