    Prilocaine produced seizure activity, cardiac arrhythmia and asystole at significantly lower doses compared to prilocaine + TQ treated rats.     The high consumption of medicines by the population and their storage at home might cause an increase in the number of pharmaceutical substances that may be inappropriately discarded in the sanitary sewage, reaching an environmental aquatic. Thus, the effects of these emerging contaminants need more studies.

    To identify the profile of most medicines that are discarded by users of community pharmacy and evaluate the toxicity of the most disposed drugs.

    This was a translational study. A descriptive observational study was carried out for convenience of community pharmacy users using a standardized questionnaire. Subsequently, the lethal concentration 50 (LC

    ) for medicine that is most frequently discarded was determined. After LC

    the embryos (n = 144) were exposed to sublethal concentrations for most discarded drug at 24, 48, and 72h. Mortality, heartbeat, and embryo deformities were used as parameters of toxicity.

    To evaluate the prognostic value of preoperative radiological findings for nodal recurrence in clinically node-negative (cN0) patients with oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).

    The study population consisted of 52 patients with cT1-2N0 oral tongue SCC classified according to the 7th edition of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) staging system. The subjects had undergone preoperative radiological examinations, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and

    F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography. All patients were treated with local resection and watchful waiting for neck management. Using an unpaired t test, Pearson’s chi-squared test, and the Kaplan-Meier method, the MRI-derived depth of invasion (DOI), the standardized uptake value (SUV) on FDG-PET, and the T stage according to the 7th and 8th UICC were assessed as prognostic factors.

    The MRI-derived DOI was recorded as ≤ 5mm in 24 patients and > 5mm in 28 patients. During the follow-up period, nine patients exhibited nodal recurrence, with the MRI-derived DOI being significantly higher in patients with positive than in those with negative (p = 0.011). The classification of these variants can be complex when both non-functional and functional transcripts are produced from the variant allele. We present four BRCA2 splice site variants with complex variant interpretations (BRCA2 c.68-3T>G, c.68-2A>G, c.425G>T, c.8331+2T>C). Evidence supporting a pathogenic classification is available for each variant, including in silico models, absence in population databases, and published functional data. However, comprehensive RNA analysis showed that some functional transcript may be produced by each variant. BRCA2 c.68-3T>G results in a partial splice defect. For BRCA2 c.68-2A>G and c.425G>T, aberrant splicing was shown to produce a potentially functional, in-frame transcript. BRCA2 c.8331+2T>C may utilize a functional GC donor in place of the wild-type GT donor. The severity of cancer history for carriers of these variants was also assessed using a history weighting algorithm and was not consistent with pathogenic controls (carriers of known pathogenic variants in BRCA2). This study was designed to compare the microbial communities of the vaginae, cervices, and uteri of normal (n = 10) camels versus camels suffering from cervico-vaginal adhesion (n = 23). Vaginal, cervical, and uterine swab samples were collected from control and affected animals. Furthermore, serum samples were obtained for serological testing of Chlamydiosis and Coxiellosis. For bacteriological and fungal examination, swab samples were plated on Columbia and Saboraud’s dextrose agar, respectively. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay was applied to samples expressed seropositive for Chlamydiosis. Vaginal swab bacterial cultures showed that the affected animals were significantly infected with Staphylococcus aureus (P = 0.0322, CI 0.25-0.95) than the control, while mycological cultures showed that both control and affected animals were infected with Cryptococcus and Candida albicans.
