5, PM10, SO2, O3, and CO were associated with increased LOS for all IHD patients in both single- and multi-pollutant models, and stronger associations were observed among chronic IHD patients. In addition, subgroup analyses demonstrated that males and the group aged 65+ years were more vulnerable to air pollution, and the adverse effects were also promoted by low temperature in cold season. This study provides the first investigation of the adverse effects of AAP on the LOS for IHD patients. In order to shorten the LOS of IHD, measures should be taken to strengthen the AAP management and protect the high-risk population.Poly(hydroxylmethyl methacrylate-co-glycidyl methacrylate) (p(HEMA-GMA)) macroporous cryogel with high density of epoxy groups was synthesized, and the epoxy groups of the cryogel were modified into phosphonate groups. The effects of dye concentrations, adsorption time, pH, salt concentration, and adsorption temperature on the adsorption of Direct Blue-53 (DB-53) and Reactive Blue-160 (RB-160) dyes were studied. The maximum adsorption capacity was found to be 245.3 and 155.8 mg/g (0.255 or 0.119 mmol/g) for the DB-53 and RB-160 dyes, respectively. The higher adsorption capacity achieved for the DB-53 compared with the RB-160 dye can result from the pendant primary amino groups of the DB-53 dye as well as the smaller size of the dye molecule. The Langmuir isotherm model and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model well described the experimental data. The p(HEMA-GMA)-PO42- adsorbent has many operational advantages for the removal of pollutants. It could be a promising adsorbent to be used in industrial wastewater treatment.Numerous studies on megacities have reported less air pollution in polycentric form urban than monocentric form urban. However, findings from these studies do not imply that increasing air pollution in region or country is accompanied by the expanding megacities. Using satellite night-light data, this study investigates the impact of polycentric urban form at the provincial level on PM2.5 concentrations in China while controlling for variables of urban population size, energy consumption, and the weather. The results reveal that the PM2.5 concentrations are reduced by 1.46% to 2.67%, with a 1% increase in polycentric urban form. The similar impact has also been observed in the South China, but larger in the Central China. Further studies show that the urban form-air pollution relationship mainly influenced by transportation distance and enhanced by rising per capita income. The findings suggest that regional planning and policies favoring polycentric urban patterns should be strengthened to alleviate air pollution. The study was conducted to monitor concentration of six toxic metals in faecal pellets of blue rock pigeon from six industrial areas of Jaipur, i.e. Jhotwara, Malviya, Mansarover, Sitapura, Vishwakarma industrial areas and Sanganer industries, by using atomic absorption spectrophotometer. At the same time, trace metals were also analysed for a reference area so that a comparative impact of the metal pollution from the industries could be figured out. click here From the data obtained, the highest Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn concentrations were found in the faecal pellets from Sitapura industrial area (1.12 ± 0.60 μg/g; 128.9 ± 11.10 μg/g; 17 ± 2.87 μg/g; 79.6 ± 42.69 μg/g; 2250 ± 1390.16 μg/g) and the highest Cr (18.6 ± 3.65 μg/g) from Jhotwara industrial area. However, industrial environment has high deposition of studied trace metals (except Ni for Sanganer industries) as compared with reference area. The concentration of Cd was below the detectable level in faecal pellets from reference area. The trend of trace metals from Malviya, Sitapura, Jhotwara and reference areas was noticed as Zn > Cu > Pb > Cr > Ni > Cd and almost same for Sanganer industries and Mansarover industrial area as Zn > Cu > Cr > Pb > Ni > Cd. The excretion of heavy metals in fa1ecal pellets from Vishwakarma industrial area was noticed as Zn > Cr > Cu > Pb > Ni > Cd. Further levels of metals were varied significantly among different industrial areas, P ≤ 0.05, as well as between industrial areas and reference area. The observed high concentration of different heavy metals in faecal pellets of bird species shows their exposure to metal contamination which is warning to spiked environmental pollution. The impact of soil lead (Pb) pollution on survival, growth, and reproduction of the collembolan, Folsomia candida, and Pb compartmentation in its gut and remaining body parts were studied by exposing animals to laboratory-spiked soil. The survival, growth, and reproduction of F. candida were significantly reduced by increasing soil Pb concentration. The LC50 values of survival based on total and CaCl2-extractable Pb concentration in soil were 2562 mg kg-1 and 351 mg kg-1, respectively. The EC50 values of reproduction were 1244 mg kg-1 and 48 mg kg-1, respectively. The Pb concentration in whole body, gut, and remaining body parts was significantly increased with the increase of soil Pb concentration and followed an exponential increase when the soil Pb concentration was equal to or above a threshold (1000 mg kg-1 for whole body and remaining body part, 500 mg kg-1 for gut). Below this threshold, these relationships were linear. The Pb concentration in the gut was higher than whole body and remaining body part of F. candida, and the threshold of internal Pb concentration at which F. candida can compensate was in the range 7-13 mg Pb kg-1 dry animal (corresponding to soil Pb concentration 500-1000 mg Pb kg-1 dry soil). The results indicate that reproduction of F. candida was a more sensitive indicator of lead toxicity than survival and growth. Pb was mainly accumulated in the gut of F. candida. We discuss the internal Pb concentration as an indicator of adverse effects in the risk assessment of soil Pb pollution. This study aims at investigating the electrocatalytic oxidation of sodium pentachlorophenate (PCP-Na) using a novel nano-PbO2 powder anode. The nano-PbO2 powder (marked as HL-PbO2) was prepared by a simple hydrolysis process, and hydrothermal treatment was followed to improve the activity of HL-PbO2. The HL-PbO2 treated for 24 h by hydrothermal process (HL/HT-PbO2-24) was confirmed to possess higher crystallinity, higher oxygen evolution potential, and more active sites, resulting in stronger OH radical generation capacity and higher electrochemical activity. Compared with conventional electrodeposited PbO2 (ED-PbO2) anode, the HL/HT-PbO2-24 anode showed higher PCP-Na degradation rate. Under the same operating conditions, the mineralization current efficiency at HL/HT-PbO2-24 was 2.7 times than that at ED-PbO2. Five intermediates were detected in PCP-Na degradation solution and possible degradation mechanism of PCP-Na was discussed. In addition, the acute toxicity of PCP-Na degradation solution to zebrafish embryos and the oxidative stress induced in zebrafish embryos/larvae were studied to evaluate the ecological security of electrocatalytic oxidation of PCP-Na.
