The number of cases of superior vena cava syndrome (SVCS) increased due to increased cardiac devices and central venous catheters. Management of benign SVCS is still controversial. A 51-year-old male known to have ischemic cardiomyopathy and chronic renal failure on regular hemodialysis. In the last 12 months, he had progressive shortness of breath and swelling of his upper part of the body. Examination revealed engorgement of the neck veins, facial puffiness, and pitting edema of both upper limbs. Venography showed occluded SVC. We applied a 50 Watt of energy via electrocautery pen to a Hi-Torque 0.014 Astato guidewire to cross the occluded segment retrogradely. We used 2 stents 39 mm, mounted on BIB 20/40 mm. Final angiography revealed full restoration of SVC flow. Diathermy use to cross a chronic total SVC obstruction is feasible and safe. Endovascular techniques are suitable as initial management of benign SVC syndrome.[This corrects the article DOI 10.1016/j.radcr.2020.02.028.].Secondary spontaneous pneumothorax is a serious medical condition that typically occurs in patients with an underlying lung pathology such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Those patients are usually compromised and more amenable to higher morbidity and mortality rates. Moreover, they are poor candidates for general anesthesia and mechanical ventilation due to their poor health condition. We report a case of an 86-year-old male, who presented with a non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction and was incidentally found to have secondary spontaneous pneumothorax on a routine chest x-ray. The results of his blood work, international normalized ratio and liver function test were abnormal. Therefore, a novel intervention was introduced to control the air-leak by injecting a sealant material (Progel™, Warwick, Rhode Island, USA) through a thoracostomy tube guided by computed tomography fluoroscopy. The procedure was demonstrated to be a successful method of air-leak repair with minimal complications; as the patient was followed for two and a half years without any evidence of recurrence.Embolization coil migration to the gastrointestinal tract is a rare complication. This report describes our experience of coil migration in the stomach and spontaneous excretion. A 77-year-old man, who was diagnosed with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma with multiple lymph node metastases, had a bleeding left gastric artery and splenic artery pseudoaneurysm associated with an abdominal lymph node mass, that was treated by coil embolization, after which the coil migrated into the stomach. Because there were no complications such as active bleeding or peritonitis, our patient was followed carefully, and excretion of the coil was documented. No standard management exists for migrated coils. We present a case of a 74-year-old male with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes mellitus who was suspected of having Cushing syndrome on chest CT due to increasing mediastinal lipomatosis and enlarging bilateral adrenal glands. Cushing syndrome was confirmed based on clinical features and biochemical tests. Further investigation revealed an ACTH-producing functional neuroendocrine tumor of the pancreas causing ectopic Cushing syndrome.We present a rare case of cavernous sinuses air embolism occurring after peripheral venous catheterization. This 44-year-old lady followed for idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura was referred to our service for vomiting and critical headaches after blood transfusion for her thrombocytopenia. In two experiments, the participants performed an associative memory task in which they undertook three kinds of recall item (memory for a target item), location (spatial position of a target item), and association recall (association of a target item and its location). In the first experiment, the emotion was introduced by the target stimuli (neutral or negative words), while in the second experiment, contextual emotion was introduced by means of an odorant dispenser (negative or neutral odorant) placed under the participant’s chin and only neutral words were used. The results confirm that emotions act in different ways on the integration mechanism depending on how they are introduced to the participant within-item emotion enhances item recall itself by strengthening the link between its components, while contextual emotion favors the integration of the item with its location.The purpose of the present study was to investigate whether mindfulness and cognitive intrusions predict recollection. Using electroencephalogram methodology, we investigated 31 participants who performed a recognition task and reported situational mindfulness as well as task-irrelevant (TII) and task-relevant intrusions (TRI). We used behavioral measures (response accuracy) to analyze performance effectiveness and event-related potentials (ERP) to measure processing efficiency (compensatory processes) associated with performance of the task. Results suggest that being mindful during a task slightly improves recognition of old and new but not similar probes. Although worrying about the outcomes (i.e., TRI) facilitates improvement in true recognition of old probes, it also impairs correct rejection of new probes. Moreover, TRI predicted the strength of ERP effects associated with compensatory processes involved in recollection. We conclude that mindfulness slightly improves recognition without involvement of the compensatory effort and worrying partly increases responding accuracy at the cost of diminished processing efficiency.
