A method for increasing the solubilities of industrial azo pigments in DMSO by adding DBU (1,8-diaza-7-bicyclo[5.4.0]undecene) has been developed. This facilitated the acquisition of solution 13 C NMR spectra of the pigments. This method was applied to four types of azo pigments naphthol AS (3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid anilide) pigments, naphthol pigments, pyrazolone pigments and acetoacetanilide pigments. This represents the first solution 13 C NMR spectra for naphthol AS pigments. Altogether 18 industrial azo pigments were analysed using 1D and 2D NMR techniques. The proton and corresponding carbon NMR resonances of these pigments have all been assigned.

The meaning in life consists of an individual’s values, experiences, goals and beliefs. It has been shown to be negatively associated with depression, hopelessness and suicidal ideation. Depression and hopelessness are related to increased suicidal ideation. Meaning in life has been shown to be a protective factor against depression, hopelessness and suicidal ideation.

A path model was developed to clarify the associations among meaning in life, depression, hopelessness and suicidal ideation. For clarity, the outcomes were depression and suicidal ideation, the independent variable was hopelessness, and the mediator was meaning in life. Hopelessness had a direct association with meaning in life, and meaning in life had a direct association with depression, supporting the mediating effect of meaning in life from hopelessness to depression. Meaning in life had the strongest association with depression, and depression had the strongest association with suicidal ideation. Meaning in life did not have a signifigative association with depression (β = -0.51, p less then .01) and indirect association with suicidal ideation through depression; this indirect association was -0.21 (p less then .01). Discussion Meaning in life revealed strong mediating association with the relationship between hopelessness and depression. By reducing the level of depression, meaning in life demonstrated its mediator association with suicidal ideation. Implications for Practice Logotherapy is a meaning-centred therapy to find meaning in life. Mental health nurses could help patients to manage their depression through logotherapy, thus leading to reductions in suicidal ideation.Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the leading cause of dementia and is incurable. The widely accepted amyloid hypothesis failed to produce efficient clinical therapies. In contrast, there is increasing evidence suggesting that the disruption of mitochondria-associated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membranes (MAM) is a critical upstream event of AD pathogenesis. Here, we review MAM’s role in some AD symptoms such as plaque formation, tau hyperphosphorylation, synaptic loss, aberrant lipid synthesis, disturbed calcium homeostasis, and abnormal autophagy. selleck products At last, we proposed that MAM plays a central role in familial AD (FAD) and sporadic AD (SAD).

The aim is to examine the prevalence of low bone mineral density (BMD) (osteoporosis and osteopenia) of lumbar and femoral bones in puerperal women for the prenatal and postnatal care to ensure their optimal bone health.

We analyzed the first scan data of 1079 Japanese puerperal women without bone fracture (mean age 33.5 ± 4.5 years) who had undergone deliveries at Niigata City General Hospital for 10 years. We measured BMDs of the lumbar spine [LS], femoral neck [FN], and total hip [TH] with dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) within 30 days after delivery.

The rates of osteoporosis of LS, FN, TH, and comprehensive diagnosis (CD) were 0.6%, 4.8%, 1.5%, and 5.4%, respectively, and osteopenia were 20.2%, 39.5%, 29.3%, and 44.3%, respectively. The multivariable-adjusted odds ratio (OR) for body mass index (BMI) before pregnancy reflected significant decreases in risk for low BMD with an OR of 0.78 (95% CI 0.74-0.82) with the 1 kg/m

increases. In lean women (BMI < 18.5), 71% of them had low BMD.

Approximately 50% of puerperal women had low BMD without bone fracture. BMD measurements at puerperium, especially for lean women, may be very useful for identifying at risk of osteoporosis in future.

The accuracy of existing PET/MR attenuation correction (AC) has been limited by a lack of correlation between MR signal and tissue electron density. Based on our finding that longitudinal relaxation rate, or R

, is associated with CT Hounsfield unit in bone and soft tissues in the brain, we propose a deep learning T

-enhanced selection of linear attenuation coefficients (DL-TESLA) method to incorporate quantitative R

for PET/MR AC and evaluate its accuracy and longitudinal test-retest repeatability in brain PET/MR imaging.

DL-TESLA uses a 3D residual UNet (ResUNet) for pseudo-CT (pCT) estimation. With a total of 174 participants, we compared PET AC accuracy of DL-TESLA to 3 other methods adopting similar 3D ResUNet structures but using UTE

-MPRAGE as input. With images from 23 additional participants repeatedly scanned, the test-retest differences and within-subject coefficient of variation of standardized uptake value ratios (SUVR) were compared between PET images reconstructed using either DL-TESLA or CT for AC.

DL-TESLA had (1) significantly lower mean absolute error in pCT, (2) the highest Dice coefficients in both bone and air, (3) significantly lower PET relative absolute error in whole brain and various brain regions, (4) the highest percentage of voxels with a PET relative error within both ±3% and ±5%, (5) similar to CT test-retest differences in SUVRs from the cerebrum and mean cortical (MC) region, and (6) similar to CT within-subject coefficient of variation in cerebrum and MC.

DL-TESLA demonstrates excellent PET/MR AC accuracy and test-retest repeatability.
