tatarsalgia.A metabolomics approach was employed to investigate differences and correlations among key odorants and non-volatile metabolites in broccoli juices fermented by plant- and animal-derived Pediococcus pentosaceus. Forty volatile metabolites were identified by headspace solid-phase microextraction/gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. According to orthogonal projections to latent structures-differential analysis, 24 and 21 differential volatiles were detected after fermentation by plant- and animal-derived P. pentosaceus, respectively. The concentrations of 10 odorants (OAV ≥ 1) detected by gas chromatography-olfactometry changed significantly after fermentation by P. pentosaceus. Using ultrahigh-pressure liquid chromatography/quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry, 49.47% of the non-volatile metabolites were classified as lipids and lipid-like molecules. The relative expressions of five non-volatile metabolites that exhibited significant correlations with odorants using Spearman correlation analysis changed significantly after fermentation. Fermentation with animal- and plant-derived P. pentosaceus can therefore change key odorants and non-volatile metabolites in broccoli juice that contribute to the characteristic organoleptic properties of products.Lack of proper postharvest management of fruits causes huge economic loss, increase poverty, hunger and malnutrition. To reduce postharvest losses, globally different postharvest technologies and synthetic chemical treatments were widely used, but some of them are reported to enhance the risk for human health and environment. Recently, oligosaccharides have attractedmuch attention because of their numerous health benefits, and potential applications in agriculture. Many previous reports demonstrated that oligosaccharides treatment improves the postharvest preservation of fruits and extend the shelf life. Oligosaccharides postharvest treatments maintained higher non enzymatic antioxidant activity, increased antioxidant activity, regulate hormone biosynthesis and delayed cell wall degradation. In this review, we systematically summarize and discuss the recent research findings concerning the preservation effects of different oligosaccharides, and their mechanism underlying delaying ripening and senescence of fruits during postharvest storage. Moreover, we provide future research direction for the utilization of oligosaccharides to improve postharvest preservation of fruits.Food volatile organic compounds (VOCs) analysis is a useful tool in authentication and classification processes, but, to date, the analysis of wheat VOCs is still little explored. In this study a method of analysis based on solid phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was optimized by testing different types of fibers, sample preparation methods and amounts, extraction temperatures and times, desorption times and oven programs. The analysis was applied to six wheat cultivars harvested in different areas, and permitted to identify 158 VOCs, of which 98 never found before. A principal component analysis performed on the dataset showed that the area of cultivation accounted for the highest source of variability. Partial least squares analysis permitted to correctly classify wheats based on their cultivation area and species, and to identify the most discriminant VOCs. These results are promising for the study of the influence of geographical origin on wheat quality.Anthelmintic resistance in equine cyathostomins is both widespread and highly prevalent in the benzimidazole and tetrahydropyrimidine classes; however, reports of resistance to macrocyclic lactone (ML) drugs are sparse and sporadic. This study reports a case of clear ML resistance in a group of Thoroughbred yearlings imported from Ireland to the US in 2019. Fecal egg count reduction (FECR) following ivermectin administered in February 2020 demonstrated 100% reduction in the US bred yearlings, but 93.5%, 70.5%, and 74.5% reduction in three groups of the imported yearlings. The two former groups were then retreated with ivermectin, yielding FECRs of 33.8% and 23.5%, respectively. Horses from these two groups were then assigned randomly to two possible treatments; moxidectin or a triple combination of moxidectin, oxibendazole, and pyrantel pamoate. The groups treated with moxidectin had FECRs of 90.2%, 57.3%, and 50.0%, while the triple combination had a 100% FECR in all treated groups. Subsequently, the efficacy of ivermectin was reassessed in June 2020 yielding FECRs of 99.8%, 87.7%, and 62.0% in the three imported groups. The FECRs of the US bred yearlings all remained in the 99-100% range. This is the first study to clearly demonstrate ML resistance in cyathostomins and to confirm the suspicion through reassessment. These data demonstrate that ML-resistant cyathostomins were imported from Ireland and serve to illustrate that the global movement of horses has the potential to quickly spread ML-resistant parasite isolates around the world. A mouse EM model was established to investigate the effects of BPA. Immortalized human normal endometrial stromal cells (iESCs) were cultured and treated with BPA to explore the underlying mechanism. Eutopic endometria from patients with or without EM were collected and analyzed. Results showed that BPA elevated ERβ expression in mouse eutopic endometrium and promoted lesion growth. BPA also promoted WD repeat domain 5 (WDR5) expression and upregulated H3K4me3 levels in the ERβ promoter and Exon 1. Further research indicated that WDR5 interacted with tet methylcytosine dioxygenase 2 (TET2), while BPA exposure enhanced the interaction between these two proteins, promoted the recruitment of the WDR5/TET2 complex to the ERβ promoter and Exon 1, and inhibited DNA methylation of CpG islands.
