Diagnostic inference was used in a high-risk scenario to demonstrate the capabilities of Bayesian networks for examining probable causes for observed effects. Application of Bayesian networks in the computation of HQs provides a transparent and quantitative analysis of uncertainty in risks.Well-defined bis(silylene)pyridine cobalt(III) precatalysts for C(sp2)-H borylation have been synthesized and applied to the investigation of the mechanism of the catalytic borylation of furans and pyridines. Specifically, [( Ar SiNSi)CoH3]·NaHBEt3 ( Ar SiNSi = 2,6-[EtNSi(NtBu)2CAr]2C5H3N, Ar = C6H5 (1-H 3 ·NaHBEt 3 ), 4-MeC6H4 (2-H 3 ·NaHBEt 3 )) and trans-[( Ar SiNSi)Co(H)2BPin] (Ar = C6H5 (1-(H) 2 BPin), 4-MeC6H4 (2-(H) 2 BPin), Pin = pinacolato) were prepared and employed as single component precatalysts for the C(sp2)-H borylation of 2-methylfuran, benzofuran and 2,6-lutidine. The cobalt(III) precursors, 2-H 3 ·NaHBEt 3 and 2-(H) 2 BPin also promoted C(sp2)-H activation of benzofuran, yielding [(ArSiNSi)CoH(Bf)2] (Ar = 4-MeC6H4, 2-H(Bf) 2 , Bf = 2-benzofuranyl). Monitoring the catalytic borylation of 2-methylfuran and 2,6-lutidine by 1H NMR spectroscopy established the trans-dihydride cobalt(III) boryl as the catalyst resting state at low substrate conversion. At higher conversion two distinct pincer modification pathways were identified, depending on the substrate and the boron source. It is uncontroversial in psychological research that different schedules of practice, which govern the distribution of practice over time, can promote radically different outcomes in terms of gains in performance and the durability of learning. In contrast, in speech-language treatment research, there is a critical need for well-controlled studies examining the impact of the distribution of treatment on efficacy (for reviews, see Cherney, 2012; Warren, Fey, & Yoder, 2007). In this paper, we enumerate key findings from psychological research on learning and memory regarding how different schedules of practice differentially confer durable learning. We review existing studies of aphasia treatment with a focus on naming impairment that have examined how the distribution of practice affects treatment efficacy. We close by discussing potential productive lines of research to elaborate the clinical applicability of distributed practice principles to language treatment.Vacant land presents many challenges for older financially distressed cities. Community engagement is a very important element to solve the urban vacant land problem and assist in long term regeneration. This paper reviews what plans, policies, implementation methods, and community engagement process were developed to overcome barriers and challenges to vacant land projects. Most studies reveal that the importance of community engagement process in terms of understanding the problems and potential value of vacant land, redevelopment process, financial support, regulation, and neighborhood organizations participation for vacant land projects. To encourage community engagement to repurpose vacant land, municipalities should have to provide adequate information about vacant land conditions and their potentials in terms of ecological and social value. Code enforcement and tax foreclosure are efficient ways to control vacant land and the abandoned building problem. Tax incentive systems, such as high taxation rates on land but a low rate or no tax at all on infill development on vacant land, tax credits on vacant land forest structure, and rehabilitation abatement on abandoned buildings can increase public investment in vacant land. Local governments should support such efforts by creating community involvement groups, such as neighborhood coordinators, civic leaders, CDCs (Community Development Corporations), and other community-based nonprofit organizations. Community engagement is not specific planning, but it is part of an ongoing process in planning strategies to urban regeneration and renewal vacant land.A major developmental task for young children in the United States involves the acquisition of knowledge about the letters in the English alphabet. In the current study, we examined the growth trajectories of children’s letter name knowledge (LNK) during pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. A diverse sample of 1,015 children was drawn from the National Center for Early Development and Learning Multi-State Study of Pre-Kindergarten. Latent class growth analyses were used to identify three heterogeneous classes of children based on their LNK growth trajectories. Children’s fall-of-pre-kindergarten language skills were associated with trajectory class membership, which in turn was associated with children’s spring-of-kindergarten literacy skills. We also found that the association between children’s fall-of-pre-kindergarten language skills and spring-of-kindergarten literacy skills was partially mediated by trajectory class membership. These findings point to the importance of LNK skill development as a marker variable to monitor and support children’s emergent literacy development. This study examined the role of personality traits in a 5-week physical activity intervention study for working adults. We tested whether personality traits predicted individual differences in change in daily steps over time. Fifty-two participants ages 35 to 69 (Mage = 49.71, SD = 8.64) wore a Fitbit Zip step counter for 35 days and completed a personality questionnaire. Participants were randomly assigned to either an implementation intention group or a control group. Both groups wore a Fitbit and had the goal to increase their daily steps. For the present study, the sample was collapsed across groups. Higher conscientiousness was associated with greater increases in daily steps. see more Also, individuals with healthy neuroticism, the combination of higher neuroticism and higher conscientiousness, showed greater increases in daily steps. The findings highlight that the efficacy of physical activity interventions may depend on personality traits. Intervention outcomes may be improved if personality is taken into account when designing the programs.
