Joël Karamdeep Singh Brierre
Private instruction available
Joël is in love with yoga. The practice has helped him grow in every way possible and continues to bring a sense of bliss to his daily life. Originally from Washington, D.C., Joël moved to St. John in 2008 and fell in love with the healing effects of the island. Having come from a very troubled past he used his time here to deepen his yogic practice and literally reshape his life.
In 2010, Joël moved from St. John to the Guru Ram Das Ashram in New Mexico to teach Kundalini Yoga. Following his time at the ashram he traveled to India to study hatha yoga and pranayama with Swami Yogananda and Swami Chidananada Saraswati in Rishikesh. Joël then toured India with his best friend and fellow St. Johnian Michael Denicola. From the top of the north to the bottom of the south, east and west, they experienced wonders including a three day teaching with the Dalai Lama.
After 4 months in India, Joël moved to Sydney, Australia to open Radiant Awakening Kundalini Yoga Centre where he taught Kundalini yoga and meditation, ashtanga vinyasa, pranayama, and sound healing. Joël taught many workshops around Sydney and hosted yoga retreats in Bali and the Daintree rainforest in Far North Queensland. After 2 years, Joël passed the studio on to his business partner and has just returned to island.
Karamdeep is Joël’s spiritual name and means “one who radiates a divine light on everyone he comes across”. He plans to shine a lot of light here on island and also to help people tap into their own divine light.
Joël now teaches a fusion of ashtanga, prana flow from Shiva Rea, and power vinyasa. Classes are dynamic, fun, and open to any students – beginner to advanced. Joël will also be teaching workshops on Kundalini Yoga, mantra chanting, and pranayama. He will be teaching evening classes at Maho Bay and at Healing Waves on St. Thomas. Joël is also available to teach privates.
