Monthly Membership and Rate Increase at Concordia

In effort to create balance in the lives of both Concordia’s students and teachers, the drop-in Yoga class rate will be increased from $5 to $10 on November 1st, 2012. Nancy, Lindsey, Elizabeth, and Sandwich all agree that affordable Yoga is vital to local residents. We strive to offer engaging, creative, quality Yoga classes to the local community for an affordable price. Through membership, you will still be able to takes Yoga classes for $5 or less depending on how often you practice. For those who attend classes less regularly, you will still experience excellent instruction in beautiful surroundings for far less than the average drop-in rate for classes in the U.S.

Class running time will be increased from 60 minutes to 75 minutes and are offered daily.

Membership cards are available for $90 and are good for unlimited classes for a one month period. You can purchase your membership card from any Concordia Yoga teacher. Members receive other benefits such as discounts on Do Yoga St. John events and merchandise.

We, the teachers at Concordia, are passionate about Yoga. We come from different backgrounds, yet each of us has experienced the transformative power of Yoga.  Strength, confidence, inner peace, contentment, improved relationships, physical wellness, and pain management are only some of the benefits we have all gained as a result of our regular practice. When one’s quality of life improves so profoundly through a simple practice, one naturally wants to share these boons with others. We believe that a community of increased love, generosity, mindfulness, balance, and selflessness naturally leads to greater resources and abundance for all.

Namaste.

The Soundtrack of Your Life

Your days of struggling to find good music that complements your yogic lifestyle are over. YogiTunes is a digital download store featuring US and world music specifically selected to complement yoga, dance, meditation, massage, and a wellness-based lifestyle.

Alex King-Harris, Craig Kohland, and Amani Friend bring over 15 years of industry leading experience in creating and recommending music for top yoga instructors. Their custom designed digital music store appeals to the consciousness community who want a selection content to complement and enhance their lifestyle needs.

With thousands of handpicked albums and artists, YogiTunes launches with a huge pool of music that will be constantly evolving with fresh deliveries from a wide array of record labels. YogiTunes fairly compensates artists and record labels with prevailing rates in the digital download industry – encouraging news for music fans who want to sustain a broad based wealth of great music.

One of the highlights of YogiTunes is the Yoga Teacher Playlist – a selection of songs picked by yoga instructors for use in their classes. What makes a good yoga playlist is its ability to follow and support the various intensities of a yoga routine. Wellness enthusiasts are typically first exposed to the music attending classes or workshops, but often don’t know where to buy the compilations of their instructors.

YogiTunes solves this by featuring the playlists of certified yoga instructors across the country for students and other teachers to purchase and download. A broad group of the most highly respected teachers in the country and around the world have signed up and will be creating playlists on a regular basis. Shiva Rea, Sadie Nardini, and Hemalayaa Behl are just a few of the world-renowned instructors featured on the site.

YogiTunes is run and supported entirely by active members of the yoga community who are dedicated to fostering community and positive social change through the power of music and yoga.

The founders have collectively produced, contributed to, and recorded over 70 releases under various names including Rara Avis, Shaman’s Dream, and Desert Dwellers. They frequently are featured at major yoga retreats and gatherings. YogiTunes was unveiled at Wanderlust California in Squaw Valley, Lake Tahoe, 2011 among the nation’s premier yoga and music festivals.

The Guest House – Rumi

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
